Chemical Operator (Night Shift:  7 PM – 7 AM)

Summary:

The Chemical Operator position will assist in meeting the schedule by completing assignments.  The position will participate in daily ‘huddles’ to discuss continuous improvement opportunities and filling out visual production boards.   The Chemical Operator position will typically work 12-hour shifts. The schedule for “Night Shift” is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM. Over a 2-week period, associates are typically scheduled to work three (3) 12-hours days one week, followed by four (4) 12-hour days the following week, or vice versa. Candidates must be willing to work additional days as required. Initial training may be on Day Shift (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) until sufficiently trained to work night shift.  

Responsibilities:

  • Monitors batch while in process and make any adjustments as required.  Properly communicates to supervisor when it appears that a goal or deadline will not be met.
  • Measure and mix chemicals according to specified formulas
  • Monitor and adjust process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates.
  • Follows all provisions of operating instructions. Responsible for the completion and accuracy of all batch ticket data entry. Responsible for meeting standard batch ticket cycle times while maintaining safety and quality.
  • Perform quality control checks on finished products.  Monitors quality of output and takes appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit production.  Follows all quality policies and production procedures to ensure quality product is produced.
  • Operates and monitors chemical processing equipment – Follow standard operating procedures to ensure safe and efficient production.
  • Stages raw materials and puts away finished product. Responsible for raw material and finished goods location integrity.  Package and label finished products for shipment.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area. Follow all safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Technical manufacturing experience in a chemical facility a bonus.
  • Standing for extended periods of time, ability to lift, push and pull up to 55 pounds frequently, exposure to outside conditions and ability to work any shift.
  • Previous experience in chemical manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • Familiarity with machining, packaging, warehouse, or materials handling is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow precise instructions.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team environment.

We have an immediate opening for a “I&C Maintenance Technician.”  This position will be based out of our Columbus, Ohio plant.  Responsibilities will include supporting our Columbus, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan locations.

 

Travel to Michigan is planned to be approximately 20% – 25% of time.  Flexibility is a must as these travel estimates may vary to support new business and capital projects as well as regular, scheduled preventative maintenance.

 

Summary:

The I&C Maintenance Technician will provide technical support for the instrumentation, single loop controllers, recorders, and PLC based control systems for a PSM covered chemical production facility operating both batch and continuous chemical production processes. This position will work in close collaboration with the incumbent instrument technician, electrician, and maintenance personnel.  The duties include but are not limited to activities such as installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.  The ideal candidate is a motivated, self-starter who can handle multiple tasks and priorities within a demanding environment, adheres to company policy and works well with others.  

Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance necessary to keep the facility’s industrial process instrumentation in good operating condition and in accordance with PSM requirements.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair as required of the facility’s industrial process instrumentation and related control systems when operating issues have been reported.
  • Perform modifications to improve performance of the facility’s instrumentation and control.
  • Perform design changes to process instrumentation and control systems, using industry standard practices, according to schematics, wiring diagrams and other documentation generated by the EIC engineer.
  • Use the company CMMS to track open work and report work completed.
  • Maintain the E&I shop including maintenance and calibration of test equipment, procurement of supplies and spare parts and organization of maintenance manual files. Update documentation such as schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, maintenance logs, etc., to keep documentation ready for use as needed.
  • Keep supervisor informed of progress, problems and concerns related to the plant’s instrumentation and control systems; provide status reports as required.
  • Collaborate with the other technicians and production personnel to create an efficient, effective, and unified work environment.
  • Maintain commitment to a high standard of safety, comply with all CRC safety policies/rules, and report actual and potential safety violations to appropriate supervisory or management personnel.
  • Perform any other duties consistent with the scope of the position as specified by supervisor.
  • Be willing to perform elevated work requiring the use of a fall protection harness.
  • Meet the qualifications for, and be willing to wear, a Full-Face Respirator as required to complete assigned tasks.
  • Be willing to travel to support CRC’s facility in Detroit, Michigan. Expect 20-25% travel.
   

Requirements:

  • Have at least an associate degree in instrumentation technology, or related field, as well as 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.  In lieu of formal education, 5 years’ minimum experience as an Instrumentation/Controls Technician in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with field devices such as thermocouples, RTD’s, pressure transmitters and various types of flow transmitters and level transmitters.
  • Experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs is preferred.
  • Must possess general computer skills to effectively use Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel), Fluke Calibration Management Software and the computerized work order system.

Process Control Engineer

The Process Control Engineer will support the hardware and software implementation of PLC control systems for our production processes. This position is responsible for understanding technical process information created by process engineering, communicating the design of the control system to both engineering and operations, and programming PLC logic based on this design.  This position will work in closely with both production and maintenance staff to commission, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC systems.  

Responsibilities:

  • Cost estimating, specifying PLC hardware and software, specifying field devices, and working with IT to identify other required equipment for capital projects
  • Coordinating with production to identify requirements for the program and develop the control strategy. Programming and test PLC logic (including Safety ­Instrumented Systems), creating engineering drawings and documentation, assisting with PSM compliance activities, and training operators.
  • Providing engineering support to process engineering, R&D, accounting, and business management team.
  • Researching new automation and controls technologies and procedures that could improve plant processes and determine if they are suitable for use at CRC.
  • Supporting the design, specification, installation, startup and validation of process control systems, electrical systems and instrumentation for capital and improvement projects.
  • Ensuring compliance of automation systems to good engineering practice and applicable company standards. Identify and execute automation improvement projects and support management of change (MOC) reviews.
  • Providing 24/7 troubleshooting support to operations.
  • Programming PLC controls associated with new automation to support capital projects and continuous improvement automation initiatives.
  • Be willing to travel to support CRC’s facility in Detroit, Michigan. Expect 20-25% travel.
   

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of common standards (ISA/PIP/etc) for specification of instruments, control systems design, piping and instrumentation diagrams and safety instrumented systems
  • 5 years’ experience in process control systems & automation in chemical, petrochemicals, or other type of process industry
  • Experience with DCS/PLC control systems and hardware
  • Experience programming DCS/PLCs and HMI graphics (Allen Bradley preferred).
  • Experience with alarm design and alarm system management
  • Experience troubleshooting control programming and industrial control systems.
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience creating engineering drawings (AutoCad and/or AutoCad LT is preferred) and control system specifications.
  • Familiarity with control system architecture.

  • Experience with industrial ethernet/fiberoptic networks
  • Experience troubleshooting controls hardware
  • Familiarity with control cabinet design
  • Experience managing plant servers, clients and other network devices
  • Experience with low voltage troubleshooting

  • RSLogix 500 / 5000 / RSView experience is preferred

Summary:

The Production Supervisor position will be responsible for providing direction and oversight to night shift operators in the production facility.  The position will ensure that batch cycle times are being met and within specifications by using the safest, most timely and cost-effective methods available.  Responsibilities will include lab housekeeping, lab equipment upkeep, QC testing reliability, and QC documentation.  

Responsibilities:

  Safety & Environment Ensures a safe work environment is present for associates and that associates are working with safe behaviors.  

Accountability

  • Observes plant safety rules & role models for all other associates and contractors on site.
  • Provide direction in safe operating procedures and plant conduct and requires associates to follow these instructions.
  • Identifies safety hazards and takes appropriate steps to control them.
  • Upholds CRC associate conduct policies, investigates incidents, prepares, and submits spill reports, and incident reports.
  • Helps Production Manager to initiate and administer consistent progressive discipline when required.

 

  1. Quality
Jointly ensure with the Production Manager that all quality policies are followed and that production procedures are followed to produce quality product at all times.

 

Accountability

  • Ownership of all Laboratory operations including, but not limited to: Lab housekeeping, lab equipment upkeep and troubleshooting, QC testing accuracy and reliability, and management and auditing of QC documentation.
  • Ensure all provisions of operating instructions are followed. Monitors quality of output and takes appropriate action, including shutdown of process, to prevent or limit production of out of spec material.
  • Conducts, and assists others in investigations to determine causes of quality defects.
 
  1. Production
Executes the production schedule provided by the Production Manager and Site Manager to the best of their ability while maintaining safety and quality policies.

 

Accountability

  • Assists the Production Manager in maintaining batch cycle times by providing direction and oversight to night shift operators.
  • Working with the night shift operators to ensure production documentation is filled out accurately and consistently.
  • Assisting night shift operators with process and equipment troubleshooting.
  • Is fully trained as an operator to fill in for coverage due to call offs or vacation as needed.
 
  1. Cost
Responsible for utilizing the most cost-effective methods to safely produce quality products.

 

Accountability

  • Ensures the most efficient use of equipment and materials. Contributes to plant cost reduction efforts.
 
  1. Housekeeping
Responsible for maintaining 5S standards established throughout the production facility.

 

Accountability

  • Assign housekeeping tasks to night shift operators to keep production facility clean and organized.
  • Ensuring the lab and lab equipment are kept clean and organized.

  • Evaluates night shift associates and provides feedback to management staff.
  • Initiates disciplinary action as required with the support of management staff.
  • Listens and responds to initial problems that associates may have.
  • Helps the Production Manager with the night shift associates’ schedules and works to find coverage for call offs or vacation as needed.
  • Retains a high quality, engaged workforce.
  • Jointly ensures with Production Manager that operators are trained; cross trained, and monitors OJT records for compliance.
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in either Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or other technical field is preferred.
  • For a non-degree candidate, a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in a chemical facility or similar manufacturing environment
  • Experience in operating a forklift.
  • Experience in working in a laboratory environment.
  • Must have demonstrated leadership or potential leadership capability.

We have an immediate opening for a “Purchasing Agent.”  This position will be based out of our Columbus, Ohio plant.  Responsibilities will include supporting our Columbus, Ohio and Detroit, Michigan locations.

 

Travel to Michigan is planned to be approximately up to 5-10% of time.  Flexibility is a must as these travel estimates may vary to support new business and capital projects.

 

Summary:

The Purchasing Agent will have responsibility for ensuring proper quality materials are available to meets the need of the production plan in the lowest total delivered cost possible.  

Responsibilities:

 

Ensure all raw materials required to fulfill production plan needs are available
  • Maintains ERP system parameters such as lead time, minimum level, etc to ensure material availability
  • Works intimately with production to understand schedule and timing requirements
  • Creates purchase orders and issues POs to vendors to fulfill material requirements
  Procure materials that meet CRC specifications.
  • Procure materials only from approved sources/manufacturers that are able to supply materials to meet our specifications
  • Work closely with R&D and Suppliers to correct any quality problems, such as, delivery timing or delivery of material with a quality defect
  • Continuously works on qualifying new vendors to increase supply confidence and/or decrease costs
Responsible for procuring materials at lowest total delivered cost possible and significantly contributes to department cost savings goals
  • Work with Sales, Production, and Suppliers to plan material needs and economically procure materials to meet the needs of the Customer and CRC Operations
  • Manage the total procured costs of materials by selectively taking advantage of techniques such as price breaks, bundling, and bidding
  • Where possible, establish the delivery timing to take advantage of announced or expected price changes
  • Optimize inventory levels
  Maintains excellent supplier relations to ensure favorable pricing and continuity of supply
  • Meets regularly with suppliers to foster positive working relationship and to stay up-to-date on market conditions
  Act as a backup to MRO Buyer assisting in day to day responsibilities by sourcing of supplies for maintenance, repair and operations.
  • MRO supplies are ordered and maintained in a controlled manner using purchase orders and the ERP system to track costs.
  Supports new business from Sales and R&D by quoting new raw materials and obtaining samples
  • Timely processing of sample & quote requests from R&D and Sales
  • Searches for manufacturers and distributors of new raw materials
  • Requests samples and pricing to ensure proper quality is achieved and then negotiates best possible price with qualified suppliers
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Must be able to prioritize, balance and coordinate multiple tasks
  • Must have excellent communication skills and work in a team atmosphere
  • Must have strong organizational skills
  • Attention to detail and the ability to follow-up are critical
  • Must be able to take responsibility and make decisions as needed in a timely fashion
  • Previous purchasing / buying experience in a chemical manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience in supplier management, price negotiations, cost reduction and inventory control preferred
  • Experience using Microsoft Office along with a working knowledge of MRP and ERP systems

Summary:

Capital Resin Corporation is seeking a Safety Manager in our EHS Department to oversee and ensure a safe working environment within our chemical manufacturing facilities. This will be done by supporting the facilities in the areas of safety, regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, environmental protection, security, fire protection, and ergonomics.   The Safety Manager reports to the EHS Manager and works directly with department heads and all other associates to coordinate safety-related functions. The Safety Manager will be responsible for managing health and safety compliance programs, implementing industry regulations, conducting audits, and developing strategies to mitigate risks associated with handling hazardous chemicals.  

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and enforce safety protocols and procedures in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Carry out regular audits and inspections to assess safety risks and identify areas for improvement.
  • Develop and coordinate strategies and trainings to ensure all associates achieve a thorough understanding and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Conduct investigations into all safety incidents, ensure proper notification process is followed, provide analysis on root cause, and work with site management on corrective action.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess potential hazards and develop strategies to minimize risks associated with chemical handling.
  • Keep abreast of industry trends, updates in safety regulations, and best practices, integrating them into existing safety protocols.
  • Assist in the management of the Process Safety Management Program.
  • Support the EHS department’s projects and tasks.
 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a chemical manufacturing environment, preferably with PSM covered chemicals.
  • In-depth knowledge of safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.) and industry standards related to chemical manufacturing.
  • Proven experience in conducting safety audits, risk assessments, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively train, educate, and communicate safety protocols to diverse teams.
  • Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., CSP, CIH) is a plus.
